BHBCUC, USA leaders met with the Honorable Sheikh Hasina, former Prime Minister in a meeting on last Saturday, 27th September 2008. The meeting was very fruitful, held in a congenial atmosphere in Virginia and lasted about 1 hpour & 40minutes. Nabendu Dutta, President; Dr. Thomas Dulu Roy, President; Sushil Saha, General Secretary; Pradip Malaker, Vice-President; Shayamal Chakra borty, Advisor; Subodh Saker, Member and Sitangshu Guha attended.
The delegations discussed range from religious minority problem to national election, democracy, human rights and inquire about her health and concern about her safety. The delegation was amazed by her hospitality. She expressed satisfaction with what BHBCUC was doing last few years and urged to continue doing our lobbing around the world. She told minorities needs to stand up and fight for their rights. In response to a query about minority seats in national election she told that I know about your demand of seventy candidates and you need to give candidates who can pass and work in the constituency. The delegates discussed in detail about minority persecution, CHT issues, minority placement in different job sectors, and she described some horrified experience after the national election in 2001.
