BHBCUC , USA meeting in NY Mustari Shafi's poem on minority persecution touched everybody

 

 


BHBCUC , USA had an unprecedented crowded but disciplined meeting on Sunday, 24 th June 2007 at Jackson Heights in NY with demand that the present CTG repelled the enemy property act immediately and bring to justice all the perpetrators who persecuted the religious minorities during the last fascist BNP-Jamat overnment led by Khaleda-Nizami gangs. Meeting also demanded implementation of the CHT treaty.

Chief guest Mustari Shafi, a co-worker of Jahanara Imam; and ex-Mohila Simity president and convener of Nagorik Committee, Chittagong , declared that she will fight along with the minorities for their demands. She expressed her dissatisfaction about the disunity in unity council and told that ‘71 was possible because of the reason that we all were united to achieve the independence. She was feeling good and proud, told she, while sitting in the stage with Hindu, Buddhists & Christians together and it was reminding me the ‘1971'. House was pin drop silent while she was talking about 40 minutes and she reiterated that 'I am one of you'. She told, 'I also want justice for the killing of my husband during the liberation war, I want war criminals need to be brought to justice.' She informed that seeing minority persecution after 2001 election she was so painful that she wrote a poem on communalism and recited that in the meeting (Please try to collect that, it depicts the real picture of minority persecution). The poem touched everyone's heart present in the meeting.

Presided over by one of the BHCUC, USA President Mr. Ratan Barua and conducted by another President Mr. Nabendu Dutta, the meeting was glorified when the founder President of BHBCUC, USA Mr. Steve Mohan Gomez joined and declared as a special guest that he again will join the movement to strengthen it. Another special guest Dr. Mohsin Ali, President, Bangladesh Human Rights Watch, vowed to fight side by side with Oikyo Parishad. Among others meeting was addressed by Sushil Saha, poet Nikhil Ranjan Roy, Dilip Kumar Deb, Subrata Biswas, Chandan SenGupta, Dilip Nath, Pradip Das, Bishnu Gope, Poresh Saha, Rabindranath Sarker and Pradip Malaker. A lot of new faces joined the meeting and everybody vowed to continue the movement of Oikyo Parishad.

The meeting decided to give a memorandum with the demands of Oikyo Parishad to the CTG.
