Communal persecution continues in the whole country:   Communal persecution continues in the whole country in Bangladesh . In Nov. 2006 including 5 killings & 6 rapes a total of 58 incidents of communal persecution happened in the whole country. 25 cases files. 10 incidents were caused by BNP-Jamaat cadres. Police & administration did caused 2 incidents: One was in Satkhira, where police threatened 75 Hindu families to evict. If they don't go, police threatened that they will be indulging with false cases and will be forced to go to India . No cases had been filed because police is involved in it. The most heinous case had happened when 2 sisters were simultaneously raped by a Jamaat leader Abul Hossain & his son Basher. 10 Hindu Minority houses at burnt to ashes by the perpetrators: A group of perpetrators set fire on ten minority houses on last Monday, Jan 8, 2007 at Baniachang Upazilla of Habiganj District. Before setting fire on the houses, perpetrators looted belongings of the minority family. Bholanath Das (60) was seriously injured. One hundred fifty person including children and women have become homeless. Sources said that the perpetrators were trying to evict those ten families of Gunpur village under Baniachang Upazilla since long. On the incident day in the morning the perpetrators initially set fire on the house of Bholanath Das. Within twinkling of an eye the fire broke out and engulfed adjacent more 9 minority houses. The local people came and tried to extinguish the fire which came under control after several hours. The houses of ten minority families including the houses of Ranga Lal Das, Bholanath Das, Banabashi Das, Fulchand Das were burnt to ashes including a cow. Before setting fire perpetrators looted fishing nets valued at Taka 50,000/- and paddies valued at Taka 50,000/- belonging to the victims. Total cost of damages stands Taka 15 Lakhs as initial estimation. Attack on a minority family: three women hacked to injury:   Mothbaria (Pirojpur),

January 12: A group of terrorists led by former Upazila Chairman Shadat Hossain carried an attack on a Hindu minority family of Arambagh area of ward no.5 of Mothbaria municipality town to evict the family. The terrorists at that time hacked three women with larger chopper and they sustained serious injury. The incident took place on Tuesday morning.

According to police station and local people, a case was going on since long between former Upazila Chairman Shadat Hossain and Horen Pramanik over Horen's 4 katha (a measurement of land) of land. The case is at present under consideration at High Court. After Shadat failed to evict the family many times, he along with some terrorists carried an attack on the minority family at 11am on Tuesday. As no male members were present at the house at that time, the terrorists dragged the female members outside the house and hacked them seriously with chopper. Horen Pramanik's daughter Moharani(40), two daughter-in-laws Bizli(35) and Dipali Rani(40) were injured during the attack. When the injured lost their sense, the terrorists thought that they died and then they left them in a ditch and fled away by motorcycles. The neighbors rescued the injured in dieing state and admitted them to Upazila Health Complex.

According to hospital source, the condition of injured Moharani is critical. Bleeding was continuing through her two ears. Hospital authority advised her family to shift Moharani to Barisal Medical College Hospital soon. Local police station couldn't arrest any of the perpetrators so far. What Happened? Ratan (26) is a Hindu boy. There was a complain against him that he had stolen 4lakhs worth of jewelry & other stuff from a home and a case had been lodged in local police station. This happened in Bagura. Police arrested Ratan and hung to force him for his confession. 4 people including 3 sub-inspectors of police were suspended and a inquiry team was formed to investigate the incident. Officer in Charge Shamsul Alam was closed and a DIG visited the area.
